“The Metropole in Venice is one of the most exclusive locations to organise refined parties and events full of atmosphere.
Marrakech en vogue 1930 was the theme of the evening event 2025.
Inspired by the film Morocco 1930 … with Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper, the party took us to a Marrakech full of oriental charm and scents.
The splendid setting of the hotel was transformed into the Medina of Marrakech
A sensory journey, thanks to the scents of spices, the scenery with carpets and silverware, but above all to the refined cuisine of the hotel’s Oriental bar and bistrot, which, for the occasion, proposed a menu inspired by Moroccan flavours and aromas created by Chef Alfonso: couscous and tajne, a buffet of typical desserts and mint tea served as per tradition in coloured glass cups.
All served under orange trees!
A party that, as always, was all about elegance and imagination.”

The Riva degli Schiavoni, a monumental setting and landing place for ancient merchant ships, stretches out like a wide promenade that slopes hourly over the gigantic blue waters. From there, the perspective towards San Giorgio Maggiore transports us to a dreamlike setting at any time of the day.
The monument to Vittorio Emanuele II evokes the carnivals of the 1990s, when a Polish man who did not speak Italian posed, imitating the movement of the equestrian statue, creating an indelible image of that time.
On the Riva degli Schiavoni, the historic Hotel Metropole still preserves within its walls the echo of the music of Antonio Vivaldi, who gave his unforgettable lessons there. His unmistakable chords still resonate in our memory when we think of La Serenissima, Venice.
Great figures have been guests of this emblematic hotel: Sigmund Freud, Marcel Proust and Thomas Mann rested in its rooms, and in more recent times, personalities such as Patti Smith, Lenny Kravitz, Giovanni Allevi and Jovanotti have also enjoyed its hospitality.
But on Friday 28 February 2025, the Metropole’s skyline was not looking towards San Giorgio Maggiore, but to Jemaa el-Fnaa, to the exotic and vibrant atmosphere of Marrakech.
Thanks to the courtesy of Beppe Puglia and the hotel’s owner, Gloria Beggiato, I had the exclusive privilege of participating in the carnival dinner ‘Marrakech in Vogue 1930’.
