Milan Fashion Week SS2026 — One Year Later

Exactly one year has passed since  Milano Fashion Week SS2026. From September 23 to 29, 2025, Milan once again became the international epicentre of fashion: seven days of extraordinary intensity during which the city transforms into an immense stage. I tried to be as active as possible, documenting through my photographs and videos some of the principal runway shows. But Milan Fashion Week is an elusive creature to pursue. With an agenda of 171 appointments —54 physical shows, 4 digital shows, 78 presentations, other private presentations and 30 events— covering everything becomes an almost impossible task.
This gallery is, therefore, my personal and necessarily partial testimony to that week.
Milano Fashion Week SS2026 arrived, moreover, at a particularly fascinating moment for Italian fashion. In an industry undergoing profound change, Milan responded with a season marked by new beginnings, great legacies and different ways of interpreting the future. The eagerly awaited changes in creative direction turned this edition into a kind of laboratory: Dario Vitale revived for Versace a sensuality linked to the spirit of the Maison’s 1980s; Simone Bellotti reinterpreted Jil Sander’s minimalism, while Louise Trotter began at Bottega Veneta a new exploration of material, construction and simplicity. Demna, for his part, chose for Gucci a language distinct from the traditional runway show, transforming his presentation into an event of enormous visual resonance.
Alongside these major changes, the collections offered remarkably different worlds. Luisa Beccaria imagined a romantic and luminous summer, constructed through chiffon, silk, organza, flowers and delicate colours. Missoni turned its gaze towards the sea, blending comfort, sensuality, stripes, textures and a carefree vision of summer life. Etro, under the direction of Marco De Vincenzo, responded with movement and freedom: fringes, ruffles, crochet, transparencies and prints created a gypsy and bohemian universe of intense visual energy.
Moschino made the concept of reusing, recycling and reimagining the starting point of its collection “Niente”, also reclaiming that intellectual irony which forms part of the Maison’s history. Ferragamo looked towards the 1920s and a dandy elegance, while Dolce & Gabbana explored a more intimate and seemingly everyday femininity. Between memory, irony, romanticism, sensuality and experimentation, SS2026 demonstrated that looking backwards does not necessarily mean standing still.
And then there was the other Fashion Week: the one taking place outside the shows.
It is precisely there that much of my work is concentrated. For a few minutes, the streets surrounding the venues are transformed into improvised runways. Cars arrive, doors open, guests emerge amid flashes, models leave one show to head immediately towards the next. Everything happens with extraordinary speed.
During Fashion Week SS2026, I photographed Bianca Balti, Alice De Bortoli, Rrezi Simons, Nina Malara, Sara Croce, Pia Metha, Filippa Lagerbäck, Lina Dembikova, Alla Bruletova, Carmella Rose, Evelyn Kazantzoglou, Emili Sindlev, Mariasole Pollio, Tamar Vashalomidze, Chantal Monahan and many other protagonists of that week.
My journey took me through the shows and events of Dolce & Gabbana, Alberta Ferretti, Emporio Armani, Missoni, Elisabetta Franchi, Luisa Beccaria, Ferragamo, Blumarine, Sportmax, Moschino, Salinas and Pierre-Louis Mascia, among others.
And over that entire edition inevitably remained the figure of Giorgio Armani. The final collection conceived by the master also became a farewell: in Brera, amid fashion, art, music and light, Milan paid tribute to the man who, for half a century, helped define for the world a particular idea of Italian elegance.
One year later, these photographs and videos acquire a different meaning for me. They are small fragments of memory: faces, encounters, details, moments of waiting and those unrepeatable instants that now look towards the new edition, beginning on the 22nd, which I hope to cover with the same passion as always.
During Fashion Week, Milan is not simply the place where fashion is presented.
Milan becomes part of it.
